TENT - Viking Tents

Bjorn,

I am sorry that I missed the posted information you received. I may not have
been subscribed to the newsgroup, yet.

I am not certain how authentic you would like to go. Like many SCA 'fashions',
you will see Norse tents styled from ripstop and unpainted planks, next to
hand-sewn ones made of wool with Gokstad replica heads.

There is a new page up on my site, by Jennifer Bray in Manchester, that shows
pictures of her Norse tents. I think they are particularly good, because of
their attention to correct frame and materials (hers are the hand-sewn wool ones
to which I referred).

You can also find pictures at http://www.teleport.com/~tguptill/aframes.htm
A pattern at http://www.teleport.com/~tguptill/norseaframe.htm
Notes on A-frame type tents at
http://www.teleport.com/~tguptill/pavbellwedge.htm (scroll down)
and a very informative web page about how to set up a large Norse pavilion at
http://members.home.net/mikhail/tent/tnt.html

I am planning on making a Viking A-frame for my next tent, too.

best regards,
Mira
