Greetings All,
It was my decision as Seneschal, after several (more like most) meetings of
being rushed thru and seeing others rushed thru discussion of events and
REAL business related items at the end of a meeting, that I made the
decision to restructure the agenda.
We are now chasing our tail in this discussion, it is time to move onto
more productive items.
The agenda format stays as is.
The format was not working, as I heard time and time again, complaints
about it. I am sorry Marius, that you did not hear any of the complaints
about how rushed thru the event related business, folks were. I did, as did
my lady and several others and when I suggested the change, it was VERY
well received. So I made the change to the current format.
Again...we have "X" amount of time and "Y" amount of business. The
discussion of the event related items are the most important items and thus
they need to take precedence over the routine officers reports.
I honestly regret that time restraints make if difficult to impossible for
you and others to arrive in time as you wish. Your service to the Barony
has been in-valuable and greatly appreciated.
However, we can not start the meeting at 8pm (thus giving us only 1 hour)
or change the format back to the way it was. This format as a vehicle of
discussion has proven it self well, as being able to give plenty of time
for event and business matters. We also have time constraints at our
current meeting site.
That is the primary focus of the populace meeting and officers meeting.
I had tried, when I first took the Seneschal office, to take minutes and
write them up for all.
But, I had several folks tell me they were not needed and it was difficult
for me to run the meeting and take good, reliable minutes at the same time.
We are not required to take minutes and few SCA groups do, much less post
them.
If we have someone such as Hrafna that is willing to take this task on,
then THAT IS GREAT. I have wanted to do this all along, but have (until
now) had NO ONE express an interest in this.
Well, we have an interest for it now and the need has been met. Thank you
Hrafna.
There is always a need to show up at the populace meeting.
You might miss something....<grin>
In Service,
Niklas
