Hello All,

Yesterday I forwarded a few posts from Sweinnet to the Ravensfort list.
Ld Athaulf is posting a series of "in persona" articles and I'm sorta
curious to see if something similar might be a popular addition to the
usual news and gritching on the list.

What I envision is possibly a weekly topic or forum (and a plethora of
spin-offs) responded to by your sca persona. Ignore the fact that you
were probably illiterate, highly superstitious, and would have run off
screaming invocations to the Virgin Mary long before the Windows startup
process was complete. This is intended to promote persona development
and dialog between personas across time and to explore the threads of
knowledge which connect the two.

If you care to contribute:

1) Do so in persona. Regardless of the topic, please respond in
character. Try to ignore the 21st century historical view and the
Victorian Romanticism passed to the current generation. Say what you
would have known as a person living in your time period.

2) Don't argue, discuss! Remember you are in persona. Your resources
for "worldly knowledge" are mostly word of mouth recanting and limited
by geography, social status, religious heritage, and tradition.
Anything you would have heard is highly subject to deliberate falsehood,
bias, erroneous detail or ignorance.

3) Attempt to explore the caveats of the subject.

4) Some mundane use of the forum may be required to clear up factual
details, but please keep it to a minimum. If you feel documentation is
in order, present it outside the body of your "in persona" bit.

5) The idea here is to explore people in period context, not SCA
context. Take up new personas if necessary! However, do not assume SCA
titles. Ok to contribute as a medieval knight if you wish, but not an
SCA Knight. Should you "assume" a persona for the day please include
who you "really" are (a.k.a. Honorable Lord Johannes Doe).

For now, please read and respond to Athaulf's postings here on the
Ravensfort list. This particular "journey" has a mathematics slant and
is Visigoth-centric. It will develop through 30 or so "missives to
home." Add, comment, or contribute possible interpretations from your
persona's point of view. Athaulf's journey was written for Sweinnet and
the Sweinbroathers (a Visigoth household) and is intended to focus
solely on a Visigoth perspective of the world. Should you wish to
participate as a Visigoth, feel free to join Swiennet, otherwise, play
on Ravensfort.

I'm still beating the bugs out, but this should be a good start. Thanks
go to Athaulf for the idea.

Comments welcome,
dsd, Ravens Fort
