yeah that sounds like a job for both herald and historian....

historically it WOULD have fallen to a "scribe" as you suggested

and what you discribed IS actually the job of the herald.... it's just
usually suckily done if at all around here (that's what everyone failed to

the office of herald here is just REALLY hard to fill bnecause they get TOLD
what to say and HOW to say it so much that folks get tired REAL fast of the

hell i didn't even make it INTO the job before i told them to shove it...

it's not that i can't YELL or even yell CREATIVELY it's mostly due to people
who couldn't pull a creative performance out of their BUTT with a crowbar
handing me scripts or slashing all over MINE with red ink ( they forget that i
have a sable thistle in BARDCRAFT)

that one of the things i'm MOST well known for is being ENTERTAINING. it's
basicly a case of Boring people with control issues trying to keep control of
everything till they strangle all the fun out of things...

and the Crap to hit the fan is because they can't resist the impulse to show
how much they know about everything rather than CHANGING anything for the
So Mote it be,
safe journeys

'champions', that, perhaps, someone, other than the local herald, might be
asked to act as 'court reporter' or 'secretary'(what have you), to take notes,
make the list of those called into court and for what purpose and then have
said list posted for those that are curious or keep track of such matters.

doesn't mean he/she has the time to add all the little intricacies that come
about DURING court...a 'secretary' might.

through a full Court for the first time in over a year. It was interesting to
be 'on the scene', to catch the emotions...and a secretary could take such
notes (i.e. that HL Dolphin was escorted in by several companions as his knee
was paining him but, as usual, was smiling) to pass along.

starts they usually have a list of who is being called up into court and in
what order and what for. They should start filling out the report where
possible before the court even begins and finish it up imemdiately after court
and get the signatures of the presinding nobles.

repsonsibility of the heralds alone. You need to know much more about your
champions than is recorded on a court report.

Name, Nundame Name, Address, Phone, Email, and local Branch so that you can
get in touch with them to extend personal ivitations to them for your events
during their tenure as champions. It is also important that you can get in
touch with them next year to get any regalia back. How the autocrat gets those
details is up to the autocrat. I usually ask the coordinators of the various
competitions to provide them to me but often they forget to do so and I have
the scrounge them up myself.

Equestrian, Archery, Rapier, Knife/Axe/Spear, etc.) are REQUIRED to submit a
report any time a competition is held. Copies of these reports should be on
file in the local officers files, with courtesy copies to the locoal seneschal
and to the B&B. The current forms being used by the Knights Marshallate and
Rapier Marshallate no not have a space to list the winner of the event and I
personally think that is an oversight. The archery marshallate and equestrian
marshallate formats DO have the spaces to list the winners.
