Though delayed for a couple of hours, the Memorial Service was well attended and was a fitting tribute to Elaine. Many words of love and respect were spoken and many tears shed. People from several areas of the SCA, her kindred, TAL and her work showed up to pay final respects. Then the viking boat was lit and a number of people sang till it burned. After the service the wake was wonderful (for the most part.) There was plenty of food and alcohol. William Skullsplitter and Tomas the Unrepentant strove to get us all in a positive altered state. Elaine would have entirely enjoyed the discussions and silliness and comraderie that abounded... with as many people there who were inebriated...there were supprisingly few people who chose to break the peace.  With Rachel's approval...all things not distributed at the wake will be brought to Populace Social in May so that those who were not there may pick somethings to remember Elaine by.
