There were 4 of us from Raven's Fort who ventured to attend Kingdom A & S: HL Jacinth, Lady
Catherine, Ld Gregor and I.

The site was the Cain Center in Athens...which many in our Barony are familiar with, being the
site where we sponsored Jarl Timotheous and Countess Alison's Coronation in 2000.

There was something for everyone to look at. HL Dyan du Loc displayed another set of her wonderful
Elizabethan golves, HE Amalie - handfelted swans, HL Barat - 1504 beer and some amazing root beer,
Master Pug - recycled food, Mistress Stella - a full Scythian outfit, HL Rixande - roman glass
dice,...and much more...the displays were amazing. Also, Master Anton, recent temporary import
from the East, displayed the very amazing Lion scroll he did for Master Pendarn...I've heard tell
that there is a picture of it up on the web...if I can find the url...I'll post it. There was also
marshall activity of both Chivalric and Rapier varieties. The sideboard was sumptous. Roasted
pork, orange chicken, fresh baked bread, cheese tarts...and a number of other wonderful delites...

Jacinth spent the whole day helping Lyonette (a former member of our Barony) in the kitchen.
Catherine entered a piece of illumination, and spent much of the day with some of the judges
learning the ins and outs of judging. Gregor spent most of the day with the Bards...listing to the
competition and getting acquainted. I spent some of the day learning how to judge, some of it
stepping and fetching for judges and event staff...and some of it visiting with friends.

I got to meet a few people who had moved in from other kingdoms...one was a bard who was most
recently from the east...and introduced to me by HL Katerina (a former memeber of our group who
now lives in Loch Sollier an is the Kingdom Bard) as well as an Atlantian Countess who is very
keen on the hounds...I also got to sit and speak with Lord Phocus about a program that he is using
to print a really neat domesday...

Jacinth and I were glad to witness Lyonette receive her very well deserved Iris...Given at the
hand of a very happy Queen. Lyonette and the Queen had spend several years in Shadowlands and had
been great friends both in and out of the SCA. Mistress Kaitlyn McKenna gave Lyonette an Iris made
by her hand. Kaitlyn related to the assembled populace how Lyonette had gotten her into the SCA
and had taught her many things.

There were 10 persons and 2 alternates chosen to compete in the Gulf War competition. They also
gave out tokens specially made for Kingdom A & S to those who achieved a score of 40 or more. They
had done this twice before, but this was the largest number of people who had received such high
scores...the stage was filled by the recipients...

Our first Kingdom A & S champion was chosen. There had been a Collar of Maintainence commissioned
by the Laurels from Master Aethelstan. It was beautiful. Also, there was a Blue cloak with an
ermine collar presented as a pass down. The Laurels also contributed items from their personal
hoards for the recipient to keep. The champion is HL Dyan du Loc!!!!

I know I enjoyed myself...and from what I heard from the others...they enjoyed themselves also.
