The Minutes of The Business Meeting of The Barony of Raven’s Fort. 2/19/07

		Officer Reports:

	Arts & Sciences-
No official A&S events, but Brian and crew have made some new shields, and
flails are being made, to be experimented with. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Minister of Children-
Lady Love of Halesworth has applied for the position, which is still pending.
Lady Mary confirmed that she’d stay on until then. Lord Devin is no longer
Deputy.

	Chronicler-
New Quoth submissions are now due by Business meeting each month. Lord Devin
is also exploring ways to cut costs for the Quoth, due to ups and downs with
the printing process.

	Treasurer-
The End of Year Report is done. There was much rejoicing. HL Chrystal needs
a deputy desperately and went so far as to say that the job isn’t nearly as
scary as people like to think. The possibility of new Baronial Coronets was
presented, because of the stable treasury, with several people promising to
bring their ideas to subsequent meetings to discuss possibilities, including
extensive research by HL Catherine. Also, it was suggested that a fund-raiser
could help with coronet costs.

	Seneschal-
The Seneschal’s warrant is up in September and a replacement is needed. All
interested please apply. The current deputy is embroiled in nursing school.

Herald-
Research is being done for members, updates to follow.

	Knight Marshal-
Wants Barony to organize marshalling classes, to give more people the skills
to marshal events. Barony needs a new Knights Marshal, as well as deputy.
More non-fighters are wanted to come to practice. The Baron wants fighter
practice to be a social event as much as an athletic one. Terrance is feeling
more fit and will hopefully be rejoining the fighter practice mayhem. Much
discussion was had over the location of Fighter Practice. The Park currently
used was debated as being unsafe. Lady Klar will look into the situation.
Also, there will be a Marshal meeting at the next Red Tape.

		B&B Report:

His Excellency is most pleased with the Barony in general, but would like to
see better communication among members. Many words can be, and have been
taken out of context and/or given more significance than they were meant to
have, particularly in the easily misconstrued medium of e-mails. His
Excellency requests tolerance and a proverbial grain of salt for information
distilled onto this unwieldy medium, as well as extra care taken when using
it.
Their Excellencies would also like to reinstate the position of Baronial
Secretary (or some equivalent title) so someone could take the minutes of the
meetings and post them to the lists. The humble Herald and Chronicler took
the minutes of this meeting, but it was stated that this would be a perfect
opportunity for a non-officer to step up and fill the role. The Herald can
attest that the effort involved is not tremendous and would be of great
benefit to the Barony. It was suggested that more than one person could
apply, thus sharing the burden (and also alleviating the pressure of feeling
as though one must attend every meeting).
His Excellency called out to the populace to purchase official memberships,
listing Raven’s Fort as barony of residence, as this helps the barony in
several important ways.
Her Excellency put out the word on The Lysts of Castleton, May 11-13, and
implored all to attend this uniquely wonderful event of tournaments and
pageantry.

		Old Business:

Barony is still investigating the possibility of a combined Kingdom A&S event
with the Shadowlands. Blinn Campus was suggested as a possible alternate
site, instead of the labyrinth that is A&M.

		New Business:

To reiterate, Their Excellencies ask the populace for a volunteer to take
notes at meetings (business, populace, or both) and post the results to the
list, to keep the populace better informed.
The coming Un-event on March 24th was discussed. All are welcome and
encouraged to bring projects to work on, weapons to spar with, and stories to
tell. The tentative time is Noon to dusk on the 24th. Lady Mary will have
children’s activities, including a scavenger hunt. His Excellency has stated
that this is a non-camping event. (recent inquiries to the contrary should be
directed towards him). Lord Devin should be posting more information to the
list (including the hou-announce list) very soon. Her Excellency also wanted
to formally invite the Equestrians to the Un-Event, as well.
Her Excellency will be hosting a beading session at the next fighter
practice, string beads for the Gulf War Basket.
HL Chrystal is making Squash Books for Defender. They are also called
Accordion Books and are fold out cardboard books in which can be written
information. She’s planning to fill several with the list of Baronial
Champions, past and present, and present one at Defender XXV to each Champion,
the B&B, visiting royalty, and the Historian.
All bids for Defender XXV must be submitted soon to the B&B, Reeve, and
Seneschal. Also, site tokens were discussed, with people to bring suggestions
to subsequent meetings.
The Financial Committee will be meeting soon to discuss funds and fund
raisers.

Meeting was adjourned. Much Bennigan’s cuisine was consumed.
