Hi all,

I plan on driving in on Friday afternoon late so I look forward to seeing everyone again.  I'm so very glad all the work has gone so well.  Vivat the Ravens!

Greetings from the Autocrat of
A Day at The Stones of Raven's Fort :

First of all, the Barony needs to borrow 9 bales of hay for archery targets.  We have the target faces, but we need back stops.  The hay will not be damaged.  We will only be shooting arrows into it.  If we can not borrow hay, the Barony will have to buy hay that it has no place to store.  It will have to be written off after one event.  If you can help, please contact me or our local Archery Marshal, Plachoya.  Thanks.

THIS WEEKEND WILL BE THE LAST TWO WORK DAYS BEFORE OUR EVENT.  You are welcome to CAMP at The Stones site all weekend if you like.  If you can come out to lend a hand, the Barony can sure use your help.  Things are falling into place but there is a short list of very important things to do on site.

Baron Brian, his father-in-law and the rest of his crew have done a fantastic job with the showers.  They are solid, neat and practical with rot boards, doors and weather proofing paint.    I have no doubt that the showers will be picture perfect by the end of this week.  Thanks so much for all of your hard work and time.

The grass on site has not really grown much yet so the mowing should be a breeze.  Pasquale will tractor trim many of the common areas, but the list field and the archery range should be cut with lawnmowers.  Any and all lawnmowers that anyone can bring would be a great help.  Taking turns pushing the mower will make the work easy for everyone.

There are a very few branches under trees in the kitchen area that will need to be tossed in my trailer and carried to the bonfire, but again, not many.  Another quick job.  I have cleaned up the bonfire area, so please make sure that all branches go ON the bonfire and not next to it.

Filling water barrels will be the biggest job of the weekend.  That consist of driving my trailer full of empty barrels to Baron Brian's house, filling the barrels, then pumping the barrels into the showers, water tower and horse water barrels.  There will be no heavy lifting.  The hardest part is waiting for the barrels to fill.  It is a job for one, but two would make the time seem to go faster.  Dice, cards or a good book is suggested.  Once back on site, I can help with the pumping if needed.

If we finish with everything else, we will change the hinge swing on the "mouse trap" doors on the kitchen and storeroom.

I believe that is the whole list.  We could finish everything on the first day if we have a large turn out.  If I have left anything out, please let me know ASAP.

The Barony has not held a whole event in a year and a half.  It is important that we make a good showing.  With your help, we can remind everyone why Raven's Fort is such a great place to hold an event.  You have all worked so very hard for so long that I find myself at a loss for words to express my gratitude for your devotion to the Barony.  I am excited that we are about to be rewarded with some local "on calendar" fun.
Long live the Raven.

Peace,
Vlod NotVlad
