[Ravensfort] Names and naming

But now that I have read all the other messages (bad me for not doing so in advance) I have many thoughts:

1. I love many of the names that have been thrown out there: Timbrend and South Fields being among the best. I would put South fields together and make it Southfield. In our event announcements, we would have either "at the Stones of Raven's Fort" or "at the Southfield of Raven's Fort," depending on which location; but everyone would refer to it as "Southfield." The same analysis goes for "timbrend"

2. I agree with DSD's instinct on remembering our past, and remembering those stars who burned so brightly in leading us on our way. This goes not only for Kief, but all those who built, maintained, and grew Raven's Fort throughout the years. (warning: shameless self-promotion coming!) When I was Ravenskald almost a decade ago, I penned a song for Rfort that I think speaks to this idea:

"I've traveled the known kingdoms
Seen wheat fields of gold
seen mountains that stretch to the sky
seen valleys so fruitful they touch paradise
but my home's most fair to my eye
where the wind is blowing through the trees
and a silent creek there humbly, gently flows
and two hills are clad warmly in garments of green
and crowned with a circle of stones

"Now I've coffers of copper and silver and gold
and rubies and all precious stones
but though the wealth of a kingdom may tempt other hearts
it can't take the place of my home
where the rainclouds drop water more precious than pearls
and the pine trees like emeralds have shone
and the hills there to sleep in are softer than silk
and crowned in a circle of stones

"Now our king may yet call me to a distant land for war
and it may be my fate there to die
yet if I be remembered, go not to my grave
view this land to remember me my
where our memories are woven like vines through the trees
where our thoughts stray, wherever we roam
til we come again to those two hills where our dream is free
and crowned with a circle of stones

"So go again there, in ten years, or fifteen, or more
and remember the faces of old
their valor undampened, though they have passed on
for it's their memory that makes this land our home
where our memories are woven like vines through the trees
where our thoughts stray, wherever we roam
til we come again to those two hills where our dream is free
and crowned with a circle of stones

"til we come again to those two hills where our dream is free
and crowned with a circle of stones"

I think it would be a wonderful task for the Raven's Heart, or other similar guild/order, to think of appropriate place names at the Stones site--and at our new site--to commemorate all those who have had such a pivotal role in foundation and flourishing of Raven's Fort.
