Documentation of suggested name :



"Corvus" 

is the Latin Genus of Aves ( birds ) which 

includes Ravens, crows, rooks and jackdaws.

Corvus Corax is the "Common Raven" 

found widespread across the U.S. 

Corvus Brachyrhynchos is the "American Crow"

which populates this area in large numbers.

These two birds are remarkably alike except in size.

 

"lyghte" 

translates as "light" or "lightly".

The following line appears in a medieval 

Middle English version ( from original Latin ) 

of a book called (in modern English)  

'The Seven Sages' ( of Rome ) from about 1450 a.d.:
a1450 7 Sages(3) (Cmb Dd.1.17)   3147:  

"Oppon the bote Thre ravenes lyghte adoun."
Or in modern English, 

"Upon the boat three ravens alighted (down)."



So "Corvus Lyghte" is a place where Ravens land or perch.

Perfect medieval speak for what happens at the new site.

    Thank you Your Excellency David...you honor me with your suggestion... However, I feel that it would lessen the hard work given by all those folks that have made the new site the shining jewel in the firmament of Ansteorra... I did not have a hand in it's development... I respectfully decline...

    My suggestion, a slightly different tack on the Raven theme...

    Corvus Fields...Corvus Hurst, or Wood, or Glade, or Glen......Corvus Vale...

    Wæs Þu Hæl in TroÞ and FriÞ...! 

    Arenvald Kief av Kiersted, Baron Raven's Fort, Knight, Pelican, Lion of Ansteorra...

    "Bronze bearing gules - Archaic Thunder"

    "Better the Hammer than the nail..."
