[Ravensfort] Defender of the Fort question

The system in current use is indeed a good one.
It is why so many use it.
Popularity has never been a reason for trying something new.
Each Baron and Baroness will do as they will.
I was just sharing an idea put forth to me by Don Robert.

  Heilsa all...

A Barony holds annual events... A Baronial Championship *is* a big deal... If I'm not mistaken every Barony in this Kingdom holds some type of yearly Champions event...

Shires don't hold annual Championship events...nor do Cantons, Strongholds, or Colleges... Get the drift here...?

If the Barony wishes to make Raven's Fort's Defender a "really big deal" then put on a **really big deal** event... Simple...yes...?

The event where a new Baron and/or Baroness are elevated is called an Investiture...it is usually held at the Baronial Championship event...and that makes it extra-special...it doesn't happen often...nor should it happen often.

If one wishes to know the current number of the Defender event...well, then...figure out what year number 20 or 25 was...then count forward... Simple...no...?

Our current Baron and Baroness are right Good and Noble people...well Respected by the Royal Family...and Honored by the Crown...after all They do continue to let Their Excellencies Brian and Fionna hold Their lands in fief...

Enough said for now... I'm out in the world again working my buttocks off...go figure... I miss you guys something terrible...hope to be home again soon...

Wæs Þu Hæl in TroÞ and FriÞ...!

Defender every three years would be good.

Better still, would be to hold a Championship when a new B&B is invested.
Then keep the Champion as long as they serve the Barony
or until a new B&B steps up.
The frequency would be totally up to the B&B's discretion.
It would make the actual event a really, really big deal.
It would also be a break from doing the same old dance year after year.
Just an idea that I've heard kicked around.

Defender I. My first attempt was rained out and we just had morning court. My second attempt was hurricaned out. My third attempt was great. So defender every 3 years.

I can't remember which one was III, but I was at it, so that would be either 1988 or 1989, the year of the first Investiture.

It couldn't have been 1990, because I know there was a Defender in 1987 (1990 was IV or V). I didn't go to the one in 1987, but I had been to Kingdom Bardic College in Conroe that summer (Hector and Rowan were still King and Queen).

So the question is: Was there a Defender in 1986? If there was, then 1988 was Defender III; if not, 1989 was Defender III.

Another clue: Seamus and Karlanna were King and Queen in 1987, while Inman and Drusilla were King and Queen in 1986. Who was on the throne at the first Defender?

      So...

if Defender I was in 1986 (with Inman and Drusilla on the thrones), Defender III was in 1988, Defender XXIII would have been in 2008, and this year would be Defender XXV. If Defender I was in 1987 (with Seamus and Karlanna on the thrones), Defender III would have been in 1989, Defender XXIII would have been in 2009, and this year would be Defender XXIV.

        Which Defender will this be?
I think last year was 21 1/2 since number 21
