This past weekend my loving wife the lady Rosalia and I traveled to the
Barony of Bordermarch for the Ansteorran Heraldic & Scribal Symposium. We
were delighted to see so many good folk from Raven's Fort in attendance.
Among those we saw were our Baroness Giovanna, H.E. Crystal, Lord Devin,
Lord Detlef, the lord of the manor's lady and Mistress Jalali of Salamis.
Rosalia's mundane grandmother also ventured out to her very first SCA event,
and really enjoyed herself. Her grandmother said she has never experienced
anything like it before, from the food to the classes.

The day started with me teaching a class on the processing of dirt into a
useable pigment. I have a total of 12 people in the class and we had a great
time talking about dirt painting, as well as many other aspects of period
painting. After a lecture I gave everyone that wanted to the chance to grind
dirt in to powder in order to start the processing process to make pigment.
The people that had came to my class were wonderful students and made the
class a joy for me to teach. The class ran from 10 A.M. to Lunch. We
finished just before lunch giving the good folks the time to make other
classes. After I had cleaned up the very wonderful class room that I was
provided to teach in I was joined by my lady and her grandmother. After
eating a very wonderful lunch provided by our hosts it was off to get
armored up to fight.

Once changed into our rapier armor, Rosalia and myself had the honor of
crossing blades with Don Armand de Lacy, who also took the time to give us
both pointers on our fighting styles. We also had the good fortune to cross
blades with Lord Chrestien Brulé, Lord Zane Lee, and many others whose names
I did not get to stick in my brain. We learned many new things from these
knowledgeable fighters that we can not wait to share with our local rapier
fighters.

We returned to the comfort on the indoors after all of the fighter had been
beat down by the hot sun, in time to attend a wonderful class on court and
field heraldry, that was presented by our very own Lord Detlef. If you ever
get the opportunity to have this lord teach you class take it, he is a most
excellent teacher. Then it was off to court.

Their Excellencies Santiago & Elisabeth held a very good very well done
court, that covered all of the days goings ons, Every from Bordermarch
should be proud of the event that they hosted, and I for one enjoyed every
minute of the day.
