[Ravensfort] Website Type Question

I don't know the particulars here, but what usually happens is there are unscrupulous people out there who look for domain addresses that lapse... somebody isn't paying attention, and they forget to pay the bill to renew, or perhaps the renewal went to a defunct/hacked/old email account, for example; I never get a paper bill for any of the domains I manage, so I try to watch for email to remind me, which comes out with plenty of time to take action... otherwise, it's like remembering a birthday.  Once the domain expires, they are fair game to anyone else who wants it, regardless of previous ownership.  Domains that have been around for a long time (for example ravensfort.org is maybe 10 years old or so) are very attractive to these people, because they are looking to improve search engine rankings and older domains have a bit of an edge (it is complicated and proprietary formula, but it supposedly does have some influence in rank).  Then they hijack
the address and repurpose it to drive traffic to their site.  Sometimes they hold it hostage for money because it is popular and somebody is willing to pay to get it back, which is even more despicable.

I am guessing this is what happened.  It may have been redirected at one time, but if they lost ownership of the domain in this manner... similar results.  If you don't have someone focused on maintaining and keeping up with it, which sometimes happens when offices change hands a number of times, people are not technical/savvy/whatnot, things like this get dropped.  I hope this never happens to ravensfort.org, but unfortunately my extended stewardship is coming to a close and it will be out of my hands.  Keep it safe, people.

Thanks, now I wonder why they didn't
redirect stargate.org to stargate.ansteorra.org

It looks like the first address was taken over by a
  cybersquatter and redirects
to a page of rants against facebook.

I
believe the second address is a page on the Ansteorra kingdom
  server.

If I type in www.stargate.org I get www.facebookcensure.com   If I type in Barony of
Stargate in a search and then click on the link it goes to www.stargate.ansteorra.org   Can someone with more
knowledge than me please tell me what's going on?
