Greetings from Volodymyr of the Black Isle,

Here is what we would like to see happen as far as replacing the Dreaming Tree.

We have collected enough to buy a young Bur Oak.

(Thanks to Baron Brian for collecting and all of you who gave.

I will try to get a list of names for word fame.)

The Bur Oak is a native to Ansteorra.

It does well in drought conditions and is disease resistant.

They also have cool “hairy” acorns.

We have already burned the stump of the thrice fallen Dreaming Tree.

At the next work weekend we need to dig down to turn and prepare the soil.

I have been praying to Saint David for the divine intervention of his tractor.

May the blessings of Raven’s Fort’s patron saint rain down upon us.

Our plan is to use a water cube to slow water during this first dry summer.

I am waiting to buy the tree until we have a watering system ready to go.

What we need is a trailer to put the water cube on and leave parked next to the tree.

Option 1

If we can borrow a trailer and leave the water cube on it all summer,

when we need water, we would have to:

1 pull the trailer to Brian’s,

2 fill the cube with water at Brian’s, (many thanks for that Brian)

3 pull the trailer back to The Stones.

Option 2

If we do not have a trailer that we can leave the cube on,

when we need water, we would have to:

1 pull a trailer in from some one’s home,

2 lift the cube onto the trailer,

3 tie the cube to the trailer,

4 pull the trailer to Brian’s,

5 fill the cube with water at Brian’s, (many thanks for that Brian)

6 pull the trailer back to The Stones,

7 pump the water from the cube to a water tower,

8 untie the cube from the trailer,

9 unload the cube from the trailer

and 10 pull the trailer back to from whence it came.

As you can see Option 1 has much fewer steps and takes at least two less hours to complete.

Option 2 is really not a practical option at all.

Please, anyone that has a trailer sitting out back that they never use... your Barony needs you.

You will gain great karma and our undying thanks and word fame.

Once the tree has been planted, we will need to dig up the circle of stones set around the original Dreaming Tree.

They will need to be pulled back to the surface and more than likely repainted.

The original patterns were a purple bear rampant for William the Bear and a black rose for his lady wife Katheryn Blackrose.

Last month, while sifting through the remains of my burned house, I came across the original stencils I used to paint the stones.

No final conclusion has been made as to what will grace the stones in the end.

I am guessing that the bear and the rose will find a place somewhere.

A small dedication ceremony is planned for Defender.

That’s about it.

Suggestions and advice are welcomed.

Peace,

Volod NotVlad
