Hello Everyone!
We had our first work day of the season, and I wanted to thank Klar, Steve Conrad, Brian du Val, Marius Atreidae, and John Kruft for coming out. I enjoyed visiting with ya'll, and we accomplished a lot while at the site.
Today we worked on the bardic stage and assessed the kitchen and storage room conditions. The bardic stage was found to be in surprising good shape and was not in need of replacement! We decided to add some pavers to support the middle of each half and clean it up. (This summer we will paint it and spruce up the area a bit more).
Our next work weekend/day will be May 19th, Saturday morning, beginning at 10:00 am. We will be working on the "new" Rapier field, marking and placing posts, placing a barrier between the feast area and the Rapier List area, and finishing the bardic stage. After inspecting the shower area today, they too were found to be in good shape with poison ivy control needed and some cleaning with soap and water. Hopefully that can be done this work weekend as well.
The weekend of June 16th will be a big camping work weekend! There are going to be some big projects set for this weekend - The kitchen will need the bottom 24 inches cut from the bottom, replaced and painted, the storage room needs a wall replaced, and list field posts need to be scraped and painted. This would also be a great time for Individuals to come out and work on their own camps! There IS going to be a lot of work to do, but a lot of fun as well. We will have a generator and power tools (😀) to make things go faster, a port-o-pottie on site for the whole weekend, and H.E. Elric de Netterville plans to have his BBQ Pit on site so we can cook and relax in the afternoon. Come out and help us spruce up the site, bring projects to work on, and remember to bring your fighting gear! Come out to camp, visit, and be with friends (Graywood friends - y'all should come out and camp with us - we'd love to have you!).
We hope everyone can come out in May and June - work weekends are a great time to visit, share ideas, and remember why we love our Barony and Ansteorra so much (and get work done in the process - the adage is true: more hands make the work lighter!) Remember when you come to bring chairs, sunscreen, snacks, and water - hydration is key during the summer months.
See you soon!
