I have come to believe that we Visigoths could become as mighty an empire as Rome. I have been studying some of the mathematics, engineering and alchemy knowledge collected by Uric during his travels to the south. Uric feels that most, if not all, of the cumulated knowledge of Rome is actually stolen from cultures much greater than theirs. Uric has written of a land on the edge of a great desert where the people have built magnificent structures with triangular sides that dwarf even the great coliseum where the Roman stone dogs put so many of our brothers to death for entertainment. I feel that if we had possessed even the knowledge that we now have, Alaric would have been more successful during his rule over the empire. It is my hope that I will be able to send regular missives to you about the vast stores of knowledge that I will surely be uncovering soon. My only worry is that I will be unable to find traders that are heading to our mountain homes. I am about to board a boat that will take me to these great cultures. Keep a sharp spear.
