There is a wonderful recipe for cream of turnip and parsnip soup that 
I unfortunately do not have at my desk.

It is not pungent at all.  It has been successfully served to a most 
finicky eater that I know.  In fact, he had two bowls of it.  I'll 
try to remember to bring it to work with me and post it.
