Actually, when prepared correctly, 'neeps are very mild & pleasant and
not bitter or pungent at all.  I've used them often in soups and I make
a mean pan of Armored Turnips and haven't had any complaints at all.

Try roasting them!  yum.  toss in a little oil and salt & pepper.  Sweet!
