Now I have to de-lurk (yet again) and comment. I used to raise guinea
pigs and when I heard that they ate them, and still do, in areas of
South America, I wanted to look into it. They do eat guinea pigs
currently, but as far as historic reference I could never find any on
how it started. Currently they are kept under houses and raised to be
large than the pet species known to us in America. Although I once
talked to a lady that raised them, and she would eat some of hers she
said that they were quite good Shaked-n-Baked.
