Corn was imported and grown for animal feed rather early but not eaten by
people. Hot peppers became a major agricultural crop in the mediterranean
basin by 1528.
White tomatoes were grown as ornamentals around homes in Elizabethan England.
Beans of all sorts became rather common by the 3 quarter of the 16th century.
