Well, I personally like rug rats. And have not had a single complait from a
little one yet no matter what I call them. It seems that adults are the ones
with the problem of what to call them. Who really cares? I am aware that a few
people do not like the various terms and phrases that have appeared in the SCA
and they do not like members using the jargon. 

The only thing I can say is "Sorry", but it helps sever the mundane world from
the SCA world for me and I will never be faulted for discouraging the use of
"jargon" when it provides a way to leave behind Mundania. I find it no more
objectionable than "rattan" swords and far less objectionable than animal
rights activists who wear leather shoes. :-)
