Dear gentles all,
I'm coming out of lurk mode (yes, Margali, there are certain places where I
just keep my mouth shut and listen) to ask several questions and because
brandu is in general ignoring my taunts over on the distilling list. Your
help would be much appreciated, and I promise, for those of you that have
come to know me or know of me, to try to behave at least for a few minutes.

1. Being not new to the fascination with medieval Europe, but new to the
SCA, I ask what references would be recommended for things medieval,
particularly cooking, but I'm a little too eclectic so all will be welcome
regardless of subject. I asked this of the redoubtable Margali, but alas
she is to busy with puppies and a homecoming husband (welcome home
bubblehead!) to clean her dern barn. (not to worry folks, we of the
distilling list are getting ready to remodel it for her)

2. Hope I don't get flamed for restarting an old thread, but it seems the
season with Yule upon us and all. I've nothing against capitalism, but
don't get into the commercialism of this time of year. SOooo, to celebrate
Yule I like to give things of my own making. This year it was Cider (hard,
but nice), Yule wine (mediocre), candles, incense, dried fragrant herbs,
bath oil and a $5 Blockbuster card (okay, I slipped, but follow the theme)
in a holiday bag. I would very much like, for my own consumption and for
next years gift giving, to make a mead. Having explored and delighted in
the Stefan's flore (oops, can't remember the spelling) compilation (kudo's
to you sir, I discover and learn more each time I visit), I'm left with a
decision, and Pucks aren't terribly good at those. I'm kind of hoping to
start a new/old thread re mead, you know, the kind that starts with a
question from a peasant and then leads to the Cecil B. DeMille style voices
of Adamantius, Ras and Cariodoc booming down from the heavens, with us
peasants chiming in now and then. (oops, let me get my tongue back out of
my cheek, I promised to at least try to be good)

Gotta run now, before the distillers drag me back and make me go top my
room.

Bright Blessings, Puck
