Okay, I TRIED to keep an open mind. I scheduled my evening around the idiot
box (my first mistake!) and hoped Sara Moulton had a clue. I continued
searching for a morsel of historical accuracy and statement supported by
more than conjecture even after this 'medieval scholar' made his first
outrageous faux pas. But right about the time he was cooking a modern dish
while claiming 'this is how they used to do it' and concurrently made the
statement that medieval food would be inedible today, I could contain myself
no longer. I screamed, I ranted, I raved, I hollered. Then I calmed down a
little bit, told the big yaller dawg to stand down and gently peeled the cat
off the ceiling. I realized that these poor people are just uneducated,
misinformed and concerned more with making a buck and filling a time slot
than they are with presenting the truth and taking the time and effort
necessary to truly discover the wonders of period cooking. They just need a
gentle suggestion that they might quite possibly be full of %*)!

So who's gonna do it? I'll volunteer! Or perhaps a concerted effort would
be more appropriate? A community letter from the list? Maybe invite Sara
Moulton to a feast? I'm willing to bet M'Lord Ras has a recipe hidden
somewhere for STUPID TV COOK on toast or some such.......

HARRUMPH! Puck
