I believe that was Cleopatra, who was a Hellenized Egyptian, putting the
powdered pearl into wine to impress some Roman. I have a hunch it might
have been Julius Caesar. Later on, after the battle of Actium, she
reportedly put something else (speaking of toxicity) into her wine.
