Actually, I read somewhere that the hot dog was invented in 1486 in
Frankfort, Germany.  Frankfurters, you know. We had a 500 year
anniversary weiner roast at Pennsic a few years back!

(Okay, so Oscar Meyer doesn't follow the original recipe. I think the
period ones were more like a sausage, but the anniversary party was fun
anyway!)
