Okay, so cranberries seem to be out of the picture. But what about the
ligonberries so beloved by my Nordic cousins? They are quite similar to
cranberries and used in many recipes. Are they a later introduction to the
Northlands? I would think that if they aren't native to the area they would have
been imported very early from the North American holdings.
