Hi, Julleran,
At the moment, I'm in Elyria, Oh, packing for yet another house-hunting
trip to Pittsburg. I don't think that's near Buckland Cross--when I
lived in Pgh. before, it took us about 5-6 hours to drive to events in
Philadelphia. If the gentleman doesn't cook, he may have a tough time.
Some of what I translate I understand *only* because I cook. I have to
sit back, look at the recipe and ask myself where I am in the
procedure--what does this cook want to say to me? *Then* the light
dawns. I would, however, like to have his e-mail address, because
sometimes the light doesn't dawn...and because I haven't got a book of
16th C. German idioms! My son loves to catch me out, when I show him my
work. Wish I could get him interested in the history, he's an awfully
good cook.
There's lots of work to do on German medieval cooking--more than enough
for anyone interested. I was reading Scully this morning and he says he
thinks German is probably the last frontier. Are you coming to
AEthelmearc War Practice?
Allison
