I couldn't resist forwarding this post, which appears on
rec.food.historic. And you folks thought We-all were pernickity! It got
loud guffaws from folks in my place of business (a library).

Enjoy! (And I hope I attached correctly)

Please send a copy your recipe plus $4.00(US, currency or coin only, no
MOs, checks, warrants, company scrip, drafts, etc.) "tryout" fee. A
representative of the the Bubba and Billy Bob's Bobbed Ware'n Goat
Roping Alliance will prepare the recipe, serve it up for evaluation and
group critique, respond by report and with an analysis of reaction, and,
if suitable for consumption by folks who eat chili regularly (Twice't a
week or more), enter the recipe in its Grand Compendium and
Encyclopaedic Reference Manual of Chili, a step required before any
chili recipe may be vended online. A sample of the chiles used (if
locally grown) is also required. If your chili is based on the flesh of
strange critters (other than beef, buffler, caballo, goats, sheep[young
or decrepit], 'dillos, possums, feral hogs, javelinas, assorted snakes -
all available here), arrangements must be made to send along a
recipe-sized sample of the flesh required. Be advised that the Grand
Compendium does not permit the use of avians, aquatic creatures, cat,
pup, monkey meat or Spam in any recipe using the term "Chili" as a part
of its title.

Failure to follow this course of action, post haste and goddamn fast,
makes you 'n your dad liable to be subjects of a Warrant issued by the
Justice Court, Precinct 1, Mclennan County, Texas for Mopery in a Public
Conveyance, Possession of Wire Cutters on the Land of Another, Gross
Sexual Innuendo, and other assorted high crimes and misdemeanors.
