I have to assume this is correct. I had thought perhaps there was a
chance that, as iceberg lettuce is one of the most common salad bar
lettuces, sulfites might have been the culprit.

But, if you are allergic to some chemical found only in iceberg lettuce,
then them's the breaks. I prefer Romaine anyway, which at least has SOME
flavor for its crunch.
