There are indeed various grades of saffron. I pay $6.00/gram for the top
grade saffron from the Piperer's Guild at Pennsic. Of course he sells all his
saffron for the same price but there are sometimes special viles in the back
of particularly top quality Spanish saffron that he has available for
selected customers. :-)
