A delightful rant it is. Your opinion of supernumerary managers is
about what mine is. I've also had similar problems in multiple cook
feasts where someone other the head cook told me how I was to handle my
specialties.

I did upon one occasion need to use a Feast Autocrat (which was the name
we used upon that occasion). I had committed to my Baroness to create
the feast for an event when the original volunteer had to back out.
Immediately after, I had to spend a lot of time at work and couldn't
handle the details. I called on my Baroness to handle all of the
details of the feast except the menu and the actual cooking. This was
especially important as we were using discounted, prepaid reservations
to fund the feast.

This arrangement worked because we had done similar things previously,
we carefully stayed out of each others area of responsibility, and we
talked to each other daily.

I also like the term "officier". Wish I had known about it when I last
needed it.
