Agreed. To some extent children are a bit like computers: capable of
some amazing things, but when you aren't careful with the fine print in
the instructions, WATCH OUT!

Hmm. I have to disagree here. Though this may be getting off the subject of
this list. It boils down to who is responsible for the child at an SCA event
and his/her actions. I believe the parent is the responsible party, both to
protect the child and to protect others from the child. In this case, I have
to wonder just where the responsible party was while the child distroyed
this work of art, someone's effort of many hours. I have seen way too many
children left to run rampant through an SCA event. A typical SCA event has
many items (matches, weapons, alcohol) that can be dangerous to the child.
I would hate to see children banned from events, but if they come to an event,
someone needs to keep an eye on them until they learn some responsiblilty. I 
have seen many older SCA children be quite responsible.
