SC - SC- Basic Cookbooks

Thank you everyone for your wonderful suggestions!  Now I need to go to the
local bookstores and start looking.

The knife advice has also been very helpful.  Unfortunately I may have to go
further afield to look for good knives, but I know what to look for now.
