If someone (or better yet several someones) can do the base data
entry, I could certainly slap in the necessary HTML for a simple
browsable (and thereby searchable) "master index". 

I foresee a potential problem with xref between editions, and other
similar technical matters, but the idea sounds quite good to me.

Standardization of information included, and format parameters,
would need to be worked out early on...
