Pastry or marzipan fish, sea shells, boats, etc., floating on an
  appropriately colored leach of jelly?
  Adamantius

Or, viking boats made out of pineapple.... but that's just the bait for a
story.

The coronation of Tsuranaga and Genvieve, in the East, was a last minute
affair. No one had bid on the event, and they'd asked some friends to put
together the event. The household called Weresheep agreed to do the
cooking. Most folks don't know this, but some of them used to work in
restaurant kitchens. (And, its important to note, the household is
primarily Viking/Holmgang.)

The particular cooks didn't know period, but were perfectly happy to cook
period recipes, if someone else did the work. So, they did. And the feast
was perfectly authentic (or as perfect as anyone gets, these days.)

Except: they decorated each table with a beautifully made viking longboat,
made from pineapples. Just because they *weren't* period.

More appropriate might be to ask Old Marian (marian at world.std.com) to
describe the sotelties she made for a friends wedding event. Not only did
all the deserts have a maritime theme, but she served them on the famous
Carolingian Boat: the one with no bottom.
