I suppose if one is to survive being a Democrat these days ; ), being
Jeffersonian is pretty much the way to go...although he himself was not
a Democrat, for what it's worth.

 The old addage about

Ah, so you've been to NY City in the current administration? I live in
fear of arrest and gosh knows what if my 6-year-old accidentally loses
his grip on the paper napkin that comes with the ice cream cone...

Horse is also appropriate for an Anglo-Saxon feast. I don't know that
I'd necessarily want horses to be specifically raised for food, but I
wouldn't mind eating one that had broken a leg or something. One of the
problems with so many of the PC crowd is that they have no concept of
hunger, and they feel no social kinship with our period forebears who
had to eat to survive, and weren't as generally picky about it. I
suspect if confronted with cooked horsemeat, I'd be disinclined to ask
questions about its life and death... .

So was the problem with the emu the fact that it was a "weird" food, or
was it an endangered-species thing? I understand they are being raised
on ranches now, and I'd like to point out that there are very few wild
cattle roaming the North American countryside nowadays, and they aren't
considered endangered, either.

The general populace is often rather fickle, unfortunately. I've had
complaints from people about the simplest rabbit or duck dish, and my
response is generally some variant on the theme: "O.K. Eat only the
vegetables, or only those dishes that you want to eat. You'll still be
full. Then go and price a comparable meal in a good restaurant. You're
still getting this meal for a bargain price. Of course, the folks who
aren't troubled by eating the [insert name of non-PC dish here] are
getting an even better bargain, but I can't help that."

Dolphin-the-fish is also known as mahi-mahi. This is shocking to folks?
I think drawing the line at sentience of one degree or another is a good
one, so while I wouldn't mind eating Dan Quayle, if properly prepared
(at least somebody keeps him clean), I think I wouldn't care to eat
dolphins, whales, primates in general, or parrots, which recent studies
have shown actually DO talk, as in conversing, in some cases.
