The only problem being that wild rice is (a) not a rice in a botanical
sense (it's a grain), and (b) a new world product. The date is late enough
that it is _possible_ for it to have been wild rice, but I would not
expect that the availability of a northern Great Lakes product would have
been significant in Europe at that time.
But wild rice is _nice_.
Personally I would have considerd using "aviori" style rice, but I have
no idea if this kind was widely available in Europe in our period, if at
all. Anyone?
