Deep-fried okra isn't especially slimy, certainly no more so than
deep-fried zucchini, to which it is related.

Other possibilities include cooking with the dried okra you can
sometimes get in Middle Eastern grocery stores. It also isn't as gooey
as boiled fresh okra.
