Allison, could we perhaps get you to share seeds of these exceptional plants
when the time comes?

 With hopeful thanks

On another note, a friend gave me two French/Belgian sorrel plants, which
are now planted in a Pittsburgh garden, waiting for me to move in to my
house in 2 weeks. I cooked four leaves with a simmered whole chicken,
and the flavor was wonderful!! My sorrel recipes are still in storage
for a few weeks; if anyone wants to send some, I'll be delighted to have
 them..

Nice to find the list again, I've missed you!

If you are the impatient sort, and don't want to wait the better part of
a year for her plants to set seed, it is easy to order the seed from most of
the major seed catalogs, and many of the smaller ones. I had a large row of
these a few years back (They declined over time and I'm just now getting a
couple of pots built back up to harvesting size.) and they do produce seed
quite prolificly, but that cuts leaf production down for some months. But
cutting off the seed stalks didn't seem to help much--they just sent up more!
Determined beasties............. ;-)
As to recipes, try any of the spinach pie recipes using as much sorrel as
you have instead of spinach. Cooked sorrel loses most of it's acidity,
though, and if you want that taste the best idea is to sprinkle sliced sorrel
leaves on top of your dish. Of course, the classic use is sorrel
soup......... Yummm! And one of these days I'm going to have to try a sorrel
pesto..............
