Please remember to make sure there is an area to clean hands, or don't make greasy, or sticky, finger foods.  in a dance collegium everyone will have to touch there partners food if not washed off first!!

I think this would be perfect for such an event. Are you planning on having
the sideboard up all day (Kind of a pain for the cooks) or announce when the
sideboard will be open (Causing a line of people)? Both possiblilties have
their pros and cons. Finger foods and small hors d'oevers sound just right.

That's one reason I'm planning 12th Night the way I am.  A nice, sit-down
feast for the first two courses because it is a formal feast but because it
is the BIG mingling event the last course will be finger munchies that will 
just be left on the tables for casual grazing.  I plan on having the trays
out until the majority of the kitchen clean up is done and then bringing
them in.

Some ideas for the dance symposium off the top of my head include:

small mushroom turnovers
Scandanavian rolled sandwiches
grapes, sliced fruits, cheese slices

Basically stuff that doesn't drip and can be easily transported.

Sorry, just running off at the fingers because I think it could be an 
exciting feast to create.
