By golly, I must remember this trick. My worst hour came when I had to stand
up in the noisy, crowded hall where no one would sit down and be quiet (even
after court was 1 1/2 hurs over-run) and shout.

"My Lords and Ladies" I yelled, "I am the head cook and I would like to
serve you your dinner. Please sit down." Luckily I didn't add "And Shut UP".

I thought I'd be lynched, but they applauded. And, dinner was served
quickly. I never saw salad dissapear so quickly before. But you know, I had
planned for a court over-run. The first course was all cold, or was stuff
that could be easily held. This gave us the added bonus of nothing ruined by
waiting, and eveything portioned and ready to serve an soon as we could get
through the aisles to serve it.

The salad thing still floors me though. One fellow came back for 2 more
dishes. I ended up giving him mine. And get this: he was a fighter! So you
see, they will eat veggies. They just have to be starving to do it.

Aoife.
