In a message dated 97-09-11 21:49:40 EDT, you write:

<< Buffalo gourds are considered a noxious weed by many farmers and
 ranchers in Oklahoma. >>

I live in PA. We have no wild members of this plant family here.

<<They are not edible>>

Wasn't planning on eating them. :-)

<<They are very hardy, thriving in marginal well-drained loosely-soiled
terrains (course sands, loosely packed shales)>>

We have granite and clay based soils here. Sounds like a back corner in the
herb garden with a specially prepared growing area might work and keep them
in bounds.

<<Might want to check with your local Dept. of Agriculture before
cultivation...
  >>

Checked with them . They are not on the 'proscribed' list. As a curiosity , I
would still be interested in a few seeds to try. Since I live in an urban
setting the odds of them becoming a 'problem' plant are miniscule. So I'm
still interested in adding this to my 'unusual' plants section. :-)

By the way, the persons who contacted me about the Queen Ann's Lace seeds. I
will be collecting them this Sunday. Please respond privately with your
addresses to confirm shipment.
