>My personal views on the subject? A Laurel is given for the art of cooking, but does the populace notice more the Art or the Food? My belief is the food (fed camps at Estrella, even when I didn't intend to, as long as it was edible period didn't even m
atter). So, if you were not an artisan, would you award the person who took the time to feed so many hungering souls a Pelican for them time and effort put into service, or the Laurel for all the "behind the scenes" research, study, trial and error and p
ride in putting together the feast?
More interkingdom antrhopology, with a good dose of One Peers View.
I am not a Laurel. I am Pelican. I was told long ago, and I repeat this
to everyone who will listen (why is that number getting smaller every
year? :))...
One gets a Laurel for service to the arts. One doesn't get their Laurel
for cooking, or for sewing, or any other singlualr skill. In our peerage
meetings, one of the big things we talk about is how well rounded the
person is, ie do they exhibit skills and excellence in more than one area?
If someone gets a Laurle for calligraphy, say, does that mean they could
get a second for music? No. And in this kingdom, at least, to be a peer,
they are expected to be well rounded people.
I am a Pelican. I am not a Pelican "in" autocrating. I am a Pelican who
autocrates a lot. I also teach, I also am very good at bossing people
around and filing bits of paper in the proper places, and helping people
work well together.
Does this make sense? Again, please realize that this is the view from
wehere I sit, and only my opinion. Ask another Peer, you may get another
answer.
