<< Rapes (Lentil Crisps)>>
According to Master Adamantius this may be a misnomer. "Rapeyes" would be a
closer term to describe this recipe. Rapes are definitely turnips.
<<<snip>
2/3 cup coconut>>
This sounds curious indeed. I was unaware that coconut would have been an
ingerdient in this area of the world.
<<<snip>
1 cup lentils>>
IF the recipe is correctly named Rapes then this item is most likely turnips,
IMO.
<<<snip>
6 eggs hard boiled & chopped>>
The use of raw eggs as a binder would solve the crumbling problem.
<<<snip>
1/2 c rasins, chopped ( or currants)>>
Most likely Zante Currants e.g. Raisons of Corinth are meant here.
<<<snip>
1 tsp dried sweet basil>>
?
All in all , Iwithout having recourse to the original recipe, IMHO, this is
one of the more bastardized recipes found in Fabulous Feasts. Other opinions
please?
