SC - Nasturtiums in salad

Miladies and Milords,
   I am very newly subscribed to sca-cooks, AND very new at Internet and
E-Mail so I hope I am doing this properly. Please advise if not.
   For many years, I have used the tender leaves of Nasturtiums in salads
for my family.  Does anyone know if this dates back to medieval times.  I
don't even know how far back Nasturtiums date, altho my Great-grandmother
(not quite medieval) used them and that is where I learned about them.  I
would appreciate any information anyone might have.  Thank you so much--in
advance!!
