SC - recommended spice buys?

Greetings,

There are a number of wonderful mailorder spice merchants that have been
mentioned on this list. Unfortunately, I have not been a big user of
these exotic spices, so I've never thought I needed enough to justify an
order and the shipping overhead.

If I were to place an order for the few spices I can immediately think of,
what other spices would you recommend I buy so that I would have them on
hand when I suddenly want to try a recipe on the spur of the moment?
Since, I can always pick up some of the more common spices at the grocery
on the spur of the moment, I'm more interested in the more exotic ones
or the ones where the spice merchants have much better qualtiy or prices.

Galingale is one that I've never found in the groceries but I've needed
for various spice mixes. Others?
