Depends on the event.
For Caer Galen Midwinter, which I cooked last year, our seneschal
and reeve asked us to price the feast and site fee to make a slight
profit. Our coffers were low; it was only the second event we'd
held that year, and there are the inevitable small costs that come up
that nibble away at a group's coffers.
I hope that you've not fallen victim to the incorrect definition of
non-profit group as meaning "we can't make a profit"...:-(
