In Lochac, yes. Usually a profit margin (sometimes known as fudge
factor) is budgeted in.  Usually this is because the group is low on
funds or is planning to run two large events consecutively and therefore
needs a bit more money up-front than usual.

Also, low on funds could be anything from running a disastrous feast
(overbudgeted, low attendance) to spending a lot on capital goods (new
Baronial pavilion for example).

We (the SCA group) can make a profit from the event, but no single
person can profit from the event.
