Well there was the Battle of the San Juans (aka the pig war) where the
Brish and american Garrisons went to war over a pig rooting in a garden (or
so the local story goes) San Juan Islands Washington.
There was also the attempted Japanese invasion of Attu in the Aleutians
during WW 2.
