The bears are already armed, to the extent that there a notes on Alaskan
maps not to travel in certain areas with anything less than a .30-06, so it
is obviously necessary to bear arms.  They also have an affinity for apple
pie and Twinkies.  Even Canadian bears like them, so the cultural icons of
the US must be spreading.
